If you do not renew your visa, University is obliged to report your case to DIAC for noncompliance with the rules of your student visa, and you may be asked to show cause why you should not be asked to leave Australia immediately. It is expected that students would make an application for a visa extension at least six to eight weeks prior to their current visa expiry date.
